The Washington Capitals blew a third period lead for the third straight game in a row, giving them their first regulation loss of the season to the Nashville Predators by a score of 6-5.
The Preds out-shot the Caps 38 to 26 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 54 to 35.

- This was clearly the worst played Caps game so far in this young season…yet they should have won it. The Caps honestly should still be undefeated at this stage, but three blown third period leads have killed them. The Metro Division basement isn’t full of pushovers anymore, the Caps are gonna need a lot of points to win the whole thing again. Not time to panic whatsoever, but just keep these days in mind come March.
- Look, Braden Holtby hasn’t been very good to start the year. 6 goals allowed on 38 shots in this one. All I’m gonna say for now.
- The Caps first line was absolutely obliterated at even strength. Tom Wilson wasn’t on the ice five-on-five for any scoring chance of any quality the entire game. They saw at most 25-percent of the shot attempts go in the correct direction when they were out there.
Entering tonight with 0 career goals against Pekka Rinne, and now scoring two goals tonight, Rinne becomes the 101st different goaltender Ovechkin has scored multiple goals against. https://t.co/VJNDlRxD4C

- Pretty much the lone bright spot on the team from an even strength standpoint is that the Caps keep tilting the ice whenever Radko Gudas is out there. They scored two goals, had 65-percent of the shot attempts, 78-percent of the scoring chances, and 80-percent of the high danger chances with the Czech on ice.
- At least the power play wasn’t complete garbage again. The boys went 2-for-4 on their chances, the two goals being scored by Alex Ovechkin.
- It’s my birthday today. I am now 24 years old, which I know isn’t scary to the majority of you but is terrifying to me.
