Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom on bikes, smiling awkwardly, is today’s best Capitals-related Thing

The Washington Capitals were on Long Island Thursday to practice ahead of their matchup Friday against their former head coach Barry Trotz and the New York Islanders.

With practice comes dreaded exercise, so Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin jumped on stationary bikes to get their legs warm. And while they were doing that, they posed for a photo that was actually a video.

It’s awkward, but I love it.

Sure, it’s not Braden Holtby and Michal Neuvirth sitting in metal fold-out chairs while wearing full goalie gear, but it’s good. Really good.

Hopefully, they’ll use a screenshot of this during the intro videos of their tandem Hall of Fame inductions.

Thank you for the hockey player on bikes content, Capitals. Keep it up!
