Here’s how I spent my summer vacation: I made a weird album of weird music with old friends. We call the group Late-Night Delivery, and we call the album New Gilded Age, and I hope – maybe as a birthday present to me – you’ll give it a try.
New Gilded Age is streaming now on a Spotify, Amazon, Google whatever. You can also get to it on TikTok, but I have no idea what that means.
(If the album isn’t available on your streaming platform yet, it will be soon. If the Spotify link isn’t working for you above, you can find it right here.)
Here’s a little lyric video thing for one track:
I expect most RMNB readers don’t think of me as a musician, but if you did you’d notice that New Gilded Age is a change in style. My prior stuff had been more along the lines of garage rock or folk. This record is more like hip-hop, lofi, or electronic pop music. There is rapping on it, though, thankfully, most of it is not from me.
In content, I’ll let the album speak for itself, though I will say briefly that it’s about the feelings of alienation and loneliness that seem to come packaged with our current historical moment. Also it’s about being cool as hell, finding meaning in simple things, and being in love.
I hope you enjoy New Gilded Age, as weird as it is. If you like it, I’d be grateful if you tell a friend.
RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
