The Washington Capitals announced their new lines and updated groups after cutting 18 players from Training Camp earlier in the day.

The lines look about how you’d expect the team to line up in the regular season once Evgeny Kuznetsov returns from suspension.

Take a look.

Ovechkin – Backstrom – Wilson
Vrana – Kuznetsov – Oshie
Hagelin – Boyd (replacing Eller) – Panik
Leipsic – Dowd – Hathaway

Siegenthaler – Carlson
Orlov – Jensen
Djoos – Gudas

Travis Boyd is anchoring the third line for Lars Eller, who is out due to what is believed to be a minor upper-body injury.

The defensive pairings are perhaps the most intriguing. John Carlson is lining up with Jonas Siegenthaler, Dmitry Orlov is skating with Nick Jensen, and Christian Djoos is partnering with Radko Gudas. Michal Kempy would likely replace Siegennthaler on the first pairing when he returns from his hamstring injury.

Of course, injuries in preseason games and head coaching whims could change everything over the next two weeks, but if you wanted your NHL 20 lines to be realistic, the above appears to be your closest bet as of right now.
