It’s officially the end of an era.
Construction crews have taken down the old Capital One Arena jumbotron and are replacing it with a new scoreboard as part of the second phase of renovations to the Washington DC venue.
The new jumbotron, according to Monumental Sports and Entertainment, will be one of North America’s largest continuous 360-degree center-hung scoreboards. And the model photos are beyond impressive.

In February, MSE announced the $15 million-plus renovations as part of an effort “to create an unrivaled experience for you, our fans.”
The new jumbotron will feature eight distinct display areas, delivering not just video of the action, but real-time stats, scores, and updates.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see this in-person next season and see how it enhances the game experience.
