The Washington Capitals have completed a refurbishment of two in-line hockey rinks at Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg, West Virginia, according to the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks & Recreation Facebook page. Martinsburg is 77 miles northwest of Washington DC and has a burgeoning hockey scene.
The rinks are made out of blue Mylec flooring, a smooth surface that allows drainage, and has the Capitals logo at center ice.
The Capitals invested $194k into the upgrades.

Beyond the floors, the walls and fencing are new. There are also new goals.
The Park’s Facebook page hopes that the renovation helps improve the hockey leagues they already have and generate more interest from local hockey fans who would like to try the sport out.
The Washington Capitals will also be providing street hockey equipment to local schools and we will be celebrating the improvements in the early fall.

Washington Capitals Complete Hockey Rink Refurbishments
The Washington Capitals were awarded funding from an Industry Growth Fund and their organization has used those funds to upgrade in-line hockey rinks at various locations throughout the U.S.
The Capitals just completed the upgrade of our very own Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg, WV and invested over $194,000 into this facility. The Washington Capitals and Martinsburg-Berkeley County Parks and Recreation completed the renovation for the two rinks, and they are ready for the upcoming fall league!
The floors, walls, fencing and new goals have been replaced and we are hoping that renovation helps improve our leagues and gain more interest from local hockey fans who would like to try the sport out. For now, our fall registration deadline has been extended and all youth in-line players (starting at age 5 and up) will need to be registered by Thursday, August 15th.
