Capitals defense prospect Alex Alexeyev is a character. While in Los Angeles to train for next season, the Caps’ 2018 first-round pick got to fulfill a lifelong dream.
“What a great trip to Universal Studios,” Alexeyev, who grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, wrote on Instagram. “Childhood dream came true 🥳😍”
In the first photo of the gallery, Alexeyev can be seen rocking a Duff Beer hat, a Homer Simpson Sugar Daddy t-shirt, Krusty the Clown pants, and Homer Simpson face slippers. He wields a Harry Potter wand and wears a big grin on his face.
“ur so cute,” wrote Connor McMichael, the Caps 2019 first-round pick, in the comments of the post.
“oh thank you, that’s so kind of you,” Alexeyev replied.
“Calm down a bit, Alexander 😒😒😒,” goaltender Ilya Samsonov joked.
“Okay, I’ll calm down 😒,” Alexeyev responded.
The next day, Alexeyev posted a photo with Samsonov from his teammate’s wedding in Russia.
“Congratulations on your wedding day @samsonov_30 and @semenovamaria98 and I sincerely wish you infinite family happiness, sincere understanding, undying love, and stable well-being in the house. I wish you a happy life, respect, and appreciate each other.”
In the photo, he did not wear a tie.
Much calmer though.
Alexeyev also trained in California last summer before Capitals training camp began. The Russian defenseman posted a photo of himself running on the beach with a parachute.
Alexeyev is expected to start the season in Hershey along with Samsonov, but could get some games in Washington if he continues to develop.
