NBC Sports Washington’s Joe Beninati is going to need to buy a new china cabinet because he can’t stop winning trophies.
The popular play-by-play announcer took home two Emmys for his superb working calling Washington Capitals games.
“Saturday night @CapitalEmmys turned out to be two times the fun!” Beninati wrote on Twitter. “I am very grateful to work closely with so many talented people connected to @NBCSWashington and the @Capitals. They give us great stories to describe every year and 2018 was obviously special!”

Beninati won Emmys for Best Sports Play-By-Play Announcer and Best Sports Event/Game – Live/Unedited for his part in covering Alex Ovechkin’s 600th Goal.

Beninati’s partner in crime, Craig Laughlin, also received an Emmy for his work as color commentator that night.

NBC 4 Washington also won two Emmys for its Stanley Cup championship coverage including Best Team Coverage and Best Newscast – Morning.
