After a quiet start to the 2019 IIHF World Championship, the Capitals’ troika of Alex Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Dmitry Orlov combined for 7 points in Russia’s 10-0 stomping of Italy. 7!
Kuznetsov registered four points in the win, including two goals. Ovechkin also scored his first goal of the tournament.
Kuznetsov’s first goal of the game put Team Russia up 3-0. Alexander Barabanov found Kuzy wide open in front of the net and the Capitals center easily shot the puck into the back of the net.
Kuzy got a fist-bump from a very happy Ovi after he scored as he should.
Ovechkin’s first point and goal of the tournament was scored, naturally, from his international office. Kuznetsov tallied the primary assist, finding Ovi with a stunning cross-ice, cross-zone pass. r u srs bro?
You love to see it.
Kuznetsov’s second goal and third point of the game was assisted by Orlov and Ovechkin and came on a breakaway. Kuzy went five-hole on a breakaway.
Here’s another angle of Ovechkin’s pass.
Russia forward Evgeni Dadonov also scored his fifth and sixth goals of the tournament. Team Russia remains undefeated in Group B. Their next game is against Latvia on May 18.
