Alex Ovechkin had a hat trick of assists in Russia’s 4-1 win over the Czech national team Sunday.
Those three apples pushed Ovi over an important threshold in international play.
Ovechkin now has 101 points (54 goals, 47 assists) in 129 games for Team Russia, making him only the fifth Russian player to ever do so. The other four are Ilya Kovalchuk (145), Sergey Mozyakin (129), Maxim Sushinsky (113), and Danis Zaripov (105).
The Russian team defeated the Czech team in the final match of the Czech stage of the Euro Hockey Tour, giving Russia the Euro Hockey Tour championship for the 2018-19 season.
