Alex Ovechkin is clutch and a goal-scoring machine. He’s also a character.
Early in the first period, Ovechkin missed a huge check on Dougie Hamilton and crumpled to the ice.
Here’s how he played it off.
Ovechkin flaps his wings towards the Carolina Hurricanes’ bench like a chicken. It’s likely in response to a Canes player’s chirp.
“He’s trying to run over Hamilton there and Hamilton moves,” NBCSN analyst Keith Jones said at intermission. “Here’s Ovechkin having some fun. The chicken dance is going. He’s having a big smile on the bench and that’s never good for the opposition.”
