With a win against the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night, the Washington Capitals could win the Metropolitan Division for the fourth straight year. But if that wasn’t motivation enough, one tiny Caps fan brought a powerful sign to warmups to help inspire a big performance from his favorite team.
Cooper, who is battling cancer, wrote on his sign, “Hey Caps, cancer took my hair so I’ll take a hat trick tonight, please!!!”
Several fans took photos of the fan during warmups.

The Capitals responded on Twitter saying “we’ll tell the guys to work on that hat trick.” One of the photos showed Cooper holding up a warmup puck.
Stay strong Cooper!
We’ll tell the guys to work on that hat trick but will start with a puck.#ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/OTiTfyR2ws
