Alex Ovechkin is one of the greatest goalscorers of all time and one of the major reasons why is his consistency.
Ovechkin has bucked regression due to aging, and as Japers’ Rink recently pointed out, the Russian machine has scored the same amount of goals in his first 540 games as he has in his last 540 games: 328.
So with a goalless night in Carolina, Ovechkin's career splits:
First 540 regular-season games: 328 goals
Second 540 regular-season games: 328 goals
Wonder what the next 540 might hold… https://t.co/ZbwXiJdr0D

That is mind-blowing. The steadiness of the graphs are just as crazy.
The stat, dug up by Jon Press, has gone viral in hockey circles, where it surged to top of the page of Reddit Hockey and was shared by several popular social media accounts.
In the first 540 games of his career, Alex Ovechkin scored 328 goals.
In the last 539 games, he has scored 328 goals….

If Ovechkin’s consistency stays true to form, we should expect him to do this tonight against the Lightning.
