In May 2015, Anastasia Kuznetsova gave birth to a baby girl, Ecenia. In August 2018, Nastya Ovechkina gave birth to a baby boy, Sergei.
Now Dmitry Orlov, the last of the Capitals’ Russian three, will soon have a son or daughter of his own.
Varvara Orlova, Dmitry’s wife, announced that she was 20 weeks pregnant on Instagram Wednesday night.
At 20 weeks, Varvara has a due date sometime in July or August.
Nastya Ovechkina, who is close to Varvara, appears to have preemptively celebrated the news by posting photos from her own baby shower last year.
“Here is my wonderful #babyshower I had 😍 thanks to my girls led by @ varvara_41791 ❤️,” Nastya wrote.
The Orlovs first met in 2008 at a hometown sports facility in Novokuznetsk. They started dating a year later. The two split when Varvara became a touring ice skater and Dmitry, drafted into the NHL, flew to North America and reported to Washington and Hershey.
But love brought the two back together and they began dating again before the last lockout in 2012. The couple, now married, live together in the Washington area.
“I never talk to Dima about hockey,” Varvara said to Championat. “He doesn’t tell me how to make borscht either.”
