Alex Ovechkin kicked it up a notch for the big game against the league-leading Tampa Bay Lightning. After scoring a milestone power-play goal, Ovechkin drew the Caps within one goal with a smart rebound cleanup in the third period.
He’s got a sixth sense for this stuff.
Dmitry Orlov took the initial shot, but the lively bounces of Amalie Arena sent the puck to Ovechkin, standing just next to the goal mouth. A one-time touch put the puck in the net.
It appears Orly may have intentionally missed the net so he could find Ovi on the opposite side of the crease.
That’s Ovechkin’s 11th multi-goal game this season and the 131st of his career, which is insane if you consider this stat.
Alex Ovechkin has recorded his 131st career multi-goal game. That is tied with Teemu Selanne for the most since 1992-93. Ovechkin debuted in 2005-06. #ALLCAPS

This was one of Ovechkin’s most prolific games of the season. This was the most he played this season and he had 16 shot attempts.
Two goals, seven shots on goal, 16 shot attempts, three hits.
And he played almost 12 minutes in the third period. https://t.co/HxQXXBiVc2

“It was pretty intense,” Ovechkin said. “I think we play good game.”
Ovi has scored 45 goals in 67 career games against Tampa. He loves beating up on them
