All arms: Alex Ovechkin scores league-leading 44th goal after 90-second shift

Alex Ovechkin has scored his 44th goal of the season with a feisty breakaway against Buffalo.

It’s the kind of goal you’d expect from a younger man — not a grizzled, 33-year-old grayhair like Ovi, but here it is.

Video

Ovechkin was at center ice when the puck found him. From there he was off to the races, behind Buffalo’s defense but with Evan Rodrigues in close pursuit. Ovechkin had been on the ice for 90 seconds already, but he used every bit of steam he had to get up-ice and get the shot off. He did, and now he’s got goals in five straight games.

Notice that Ovi didn’t even use his legs in the shot, just his arms.

The dude’s an ox.

Ovechkin’s 44 goals lead the league.
