Anaheim Ducks Twitter account trolls Tom Wilson during game

The Anaheim Ducks shellacked the Washington Capitals 5-2 Sunday at Honda Center.

The third worst team in the Western Conference tried to take that beating to Twitter, targeting their disdain for Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson.

I’m not sure it landed.

For instance, in the final minute of the second period, Wilson took a goaltending interference penalty after getting shoved into Ryan Miller by Corey Perry.

The Ducks’ account tweeted this.

The replies were not pretty.

Later, the Ducks got sassier. After Jakob Silfverberg scored to give the Ducks a three-goal lead, Nick Ritchie and Wilson were tossed from the game. The two pot stirrers had a disagreement after the drop of the puck. Ritchie would not let go of Wilson’s stick.

Here’s what the Ducks said.

This is more evidence that Wilson, after being suspended four times over the last two seasons, has a tattered reputation and is considered a pariah to pretty much every NHL fan outside of the DMV. Tom did not do anything particularly egregious on either play, yet the Ducks seized on Willy’s prior history to get a rise out of people.

Good times!
