Stanley Cup and Vezina Trophy winner Tuukka Rask was forced to leave Saturday’s Bruins-Rangers game after being barrelled into by Rangers forward Filip Chytil.
Rask would not return to the game due to a concussion.
Video
The injury occurred 18:22 into the first period. Chytil put his shoulder down and took the puck hard to the net, flipping the puck past Rask shortside. As Chytil entered the crease, was hit by Charlie McAvoy sending Chytil careening into Rask.
Here’s another look.
Chytil made contact with Rask’s head. After laying on the ice for a minute, the Bruins goaltender was helped off the ice, clearly woozy.
The Bruins confirmed the concussion during the second period.
UPDATE: Tuukka Rask (concussion) will not return to tonight's game.
— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) January 20, 2019
Rask entered the game tied with Cecil “Tiny” Thompson for the most victories in club history with 252. With a victory tonight, Rask would have become the team’s all-time winningest goaltender.
Rask was replaced by Jaroslav Halak.
