The Washington Capitals have now lost two games in a row after falling to their once Cup Final friends, the Vegas Golden Knights. As the Caps fell 5-3, Ryan Reaves proved even further how stupid he is, hockey Twitter went a bit sociopathic, and the Caps learned they really need to stay out of the box.
The Golden Knights out-shot the Caps 28 to 26, but were out-attempted at five-on-five 39 to 28.

- Tom Wilson‘s goal scoring streak has ended in large part due to Ryan Reaves landing an illegal, late, blindside hit to the Caps top line winger. Hope the noggin is alright, big fella.
- In 43 fewer games than last season, Brett Connolly has already tied his assist total from last season (13). Gonna need even more of this from Brett if TJ Oshie and Wilson are both out for some time.

- Wishing injury on any professional athlete is gross.
- The Caps out scored the Golden Knights at five-on-five, but that doesn’t matter when you give an opposing team six power plays and you cannot convert on an extended five minute power play of your own. Special teams is your central problem in this loss.
- Jakub Vrana tied the game twice with both of his goals on the night. Like Connolly, the Caps are likely going to need Jake the snake to come up with even more production moving forward. That was his second career two goal performance.
- Alex Ovechkin has 20 goals in 27 games, which is the fastest he has reached the 20 mark since the 2013-2014 season when he did it in 22 games. That’s nuts considering he had 7 goals in the first two games last year.
