Jay Beagle has been out of the lineup in Vancouver since October with a broken forearm, but he was at the arena on Tuesday as the Canucks faced off against the visiting LA Kings.
Instead of wearing the Canucks’ blue, Beagle donned a green volunteer jersey and sold 50/50 raffle tickets which raised money for Canucks for Kids. He also threw on the disguise of dark glasses and a wig–although his nametag, which said “Jay,” was a bit of a giveaway.

Tickets were available for sale at the game and online as early as November 20, and raised a total of $1,413,630. This beat the previous North American raffle record of $1,014,555, which was set during the Sedins final home game.

Half the proceeds went to the winning ticket-holder (who purchased their ticket online and weren’t at the game), and the rest went to the Canucks Autism Network, Canuck Place and BC Children’s Hospital.
Canucks center Brandon Sutter was also out of the lineup with injury and did some volunteer work–albeit, without the disguise.

Beagle was at the game in October when the Capitals came to town to receive his Stanley Cup ring, and he could rejoin the Canucks soon. He’s been cleared for contact in practice and says “now it’s just a matter of strength.”
