Andre Burakovsky ends eight-game pointless streak with first goal of the season

Andre Burakovsky will be a restricted free agent heading into the summer and a lot of money is riding on his production this season — which may be why the Swedish forward is struggling mightily.

Burakovsky started the season on an eight-game pointless-streak, but, you guys, it’s finally over. Burra’s back to burying pucks.

Burakovsky’s goal came 12:21 into the second period to narrow the Edmonton Oilers’ lead to 2-1.

Center Nic Dowd deserves most of the credit. The fourth-line center skated around the perimeter of the offensive zone before taking the biscuit behind the net. Dowd then made a an Evgeny Kuznetsov Twister-esque pass, finding Burakovsky open near the crease.

The Burracuda buried the back door feed past Cam Talbot to put the Capitals on the board.

He was very happy to score.

So was Capitals Twitter.

Burakovsky’s goal came on his third shot on net. He finished with five shots on goal overall. He had seven in his previous seven games.

The tally will hopefully be a spark for Burakovsky. After suffering several severe hand injuries over the last two seasons, the Swedish forward has watched his underlying play tumble to a concerning level.
