Nicklas Backstrom isn’t on social media very often. His Twitter account has been active for 6 years and he’s tweeted a total of 207 times. Tuesday, he logged on to wish happy birthday to a…bed company?
“For me to perform,” Backstrom tweeted, “I need to be awake and well-rested. My bed gives me quality sleep.” The tweet includes a picture of a Hastens bed and also vines, flowers, confetti, and pillows coming out of a wall.
Hastens is not lacking in graphic design creativity.

Hastens was founded in 1852, and has made beds for the Swedish royal family since 1952. Today is the 40th anniversary of the patented Blue Check pattern.
Hastens beds are made with strong, Swedish hands. And piles and piles of horsehair.
Each layer of horsetail hair in a Hästens is distributed by hand. Big, strong Swedish hands… #hästens #hastens #worldofhastens pic.twitter.com/f4cIWqrOyt

Whoever makes and chooses the artwork on this website needs a promotion and an evaluation. This is how they highlight the wool used in their beds.
If wool’s not your things, here’s more “humble” horsehair.
They even have a Dream Factory.
Hastens doesn’t list prices on their website (they encourage you to visit a store in person). The Thrillist’s Ted Gushue slept in a $27,500 Hastens bed for a month and became a convert.
“It takes what is for many a piece of furniture, and turns it into an expertly crafted tool with which to execute the act of snoozing,” Gushue writes. “It quite literally shifts your perception of sleep as a requisite practice to a major priority in your life.”
It’s no wonder Backstrom’s a fan. Plus, their section on “Swedish Nature” sounds like a description of his playmaking style.
We’re analytical, and don’t embark on a project without the necessary planning and preparation. Some foreigners might remark that we take a while making decisions; yet it’s part of our analytical nature. And it ensures that the end result is far better realized than if we were to take rash decisions and cut corners.
The whole website is amazing, but we’ll let you explore on your own. (For romance fans, try starting with Hastens story of romance.)
Happy birthday, Blue Check fabric design.
