Members of the DC Sled Sharks hockey team were at MedStar Capitals Iceplex early on Sunday morning for a practice. The Sled Sharks are associated with USA Disabled Hockey and play in the Delaware Valley Sled Hockey League. Their website proclaims that they practice at “the same rink used for practice by the Washington Capitals!”
Two Capitals’ players made the Sled Sharks’ Sunday morning a special one.
First, defenseman John Carlson threw some pucks over the glass to the eager young players. Not satisfied with that, he then opened a door so that he could scoop them up and hand the players even more.
The players were happy with their haul, but the day didn’t end there.
Next, forward TJ Oshie stepped off the ice and said hello. “Are we cutting into your practice time?” Oshie asked. “Do you need me to kick the guys out?”
After being assured that the Sharks didn’t need the ice right away, Oshie took pictures with the players.

John Carlson’s and his wife Gina even bought the players new jerseys, all of them signed by the Capitals players.

Hopefully some of the Capitals’ championship luck will stay with the Sled Sharks. Their next game is at home on October 11 versus the Philedelpha Hammerheads.
