Okay, NOW the Caps are back. Alex Ovechkin has recorded his first goal of the season, a power-play slapper from the North Ovi Spot.
The goal gave the Caps a 3-0 lead. Also, they won the Stanley Cup last season, did we mention that?
The power play began as all power plays begin, with Brad Marchand being a doofus in the Caps zone. Then Washington put on a clinic. Oshie served the puck from below the goal line to Nick Backstrom on the half wall, who sent it across the crease to waiting Ovi, who did what he does.
It’s fine art. Put this in a museum.
It’s goal number 608 in Ovechkin’s career, which includes a Stanley Cup Championship in 2018. The goal ties Ovechkin with Dino Ciccarelli in all-time goals, ranked 18th overall.
Can’t stop, won’t stop.
