Minutes before the Caps took the ice for Day One of 2018 Training Camp, the team’s senior writer, Mike Vogel, announced two minor injuries.
Capitals defenseman John Carlson and third-line center Lars Eller will not take the ice due to lower-body injuries. Meanwhile, Russian forward Sergei Shumakov is bogged down in the visa process.
#Caps are minutes away from hitting the ice on Day One of 2018 training camp. Three of the 65 players won't be on ice today: Carlson and Eller are day-to-day with lower body injuries and Shumakov is in the midst of the visa process.

According to NBC Sports Washington’s JJ Regan, the injuries are “nothing serious.”
