Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov participate in ‘From Pure Heart’, help raise 20 million rubles for charity

On Monday, Caps’ Russians Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitry Orlov participated in From Pure Heart – a charity hockey game first started in 2009 by Ilya Kovalchuk and Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin, who’s in South Florida with his wife Nastya and one-week-old baby Sergei, was unable to participate.

This year’s game took place at Shayba Arena in Sochi and featured some new international firepower. Hockey Hall of Famers Teemu Selanne and Jari Kurri joined Russian national stars Kovalchuk, Pavel Datsyuk, Evgeni Malkin, and Alexander Radulov on the ice to help raise nearly $294k for charity.

Kuznetsov and Orlov, who played on the same team as Selanne, won 10-8. Orlov registered three assists while Kuznetsov went point-less.

Before the game began, Marina Levina, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Tula region, was given a check worth 20 million rubles for the Department of Oncology, Hematology and Chemotherapy of the Tula Children’s Regional Hospital. The funds collected will be used to improve equipment and help purchase expensive medications.

The charity game has been held in different cities of Russia every year for the last nine years. The first match was held at a soldout Sokolniki Arena in Moscow. In total, eleven games have been played – in Moscow, Kazan, St. Petersburg, Magnitogorsk, Tver, Chekhov, and Voskresensk.

Most importantly, yes, Kuzy made another funny face.
