John Carlson, Lars Eller, and Philipp Grubauer scrimmage at Medstar Capitals Iceplex

Sunday, Capitals forward Nathan Walker hopped on a flight from Australia to the United States, presumably to start ramping up his training for next season.

When the Aussie arrives, several of his current and former Stanley Cup-winning teammates will already be around getting ready for training camp.

Monday evening around 5pm, John Carlson and Lars Eller as well as former backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer played three-on-three hockey. The players moved the goals to each wing of one zone.

Reader Gene Wu has the photos.

Gene’s son Marcus later got a photo with Grubi after the scrimmage concluded.

This has been the shortest offseason ever.
