The US Ambassador to Denmark will present the Stanley Cup to Lars Eller on Wednesday

The Stanley Cup will make its way to Denmark for the first time in history on Wednesday. Lars Eller, the first Dane to ever win the championship trophy, will celebrate his day in his hometown of Rødovre.

On Saturday, Eller invited the US Ambassador to Denmark, Carla Sands, to celebrate his historic milestone.

Eller recently met Ambassador Sands and posted this photo to his Instagram.

“Pleasure to meet US Ambassador Carla Sands,” Eller captioned his photo. “See you on Wednesday in my hometown Rødovre accompanied by @stanleycup. Can’t wait!”

Ambassador Sands assumed her position as US Ambassador of Denmark in December 2017. She has had a very varied career in entrepreneurial, investment, and philanthropic sectors while also holding a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Ambassador Sands resides in Rydhave, a few miles north of Copenhagen. Eller’s hometown Rødovre is about 6 miles west of Copenhagen.

According to the ambassador’s Twitter account, she will present Eller with the Cup on Wednesday.
