According to Zach Aston-Reese, Tom Wilson hasn’t reached out since injury

Two days after the Capitals ended the Pittsburgh’s title defense and eight days after Tom Wilson ended Zach Aston-Reese‘s season, the Penguins performed the yearly ritual that is miserable for all but one team each year: exit interviews.

Aston-Reese, injured on a controversial hit from Wilson that cost the Caps forward three games, answered questions about his recovery from a broken jaw and concussion.

According to Aston-Reese, Wilson has not reached out to him following the incident.

He also talked about the moments after the hit, saying he thought the Caps were taunting him. He threw his glove at Brooks Orpik on the Washington bench, but explained the high emotions on both sides as “heat of the moment.”

Aston-Reese said he is currently on a liquid diet for his broken jaw.

The Penguins’ rookie was frustrated with the timing of the injury.

Aston-Reese is getting better after his injury. It will be good to see him back on the ice next year.
