For a majority of his time in Washington, Philipp Grubauer has been the capable and stellar backup, getting irregular playing time yet succeeding nonetheless.
But over the last few months, the forgotten and under-appreciated Grubauer has wrestled the Capitals starting goaltender position away from former Vezina Trophy winner Braden Holtby. An already beloved player, Caps fans are starting to fall head-over-heels in love with the German netminder.
How do I know this? Because Grubauer’s face is being super-imposed over Jesus on social media.
