The Washington Capitals broke with past tradition and held their practice at Capital One Arena today, instead of Kettler Capitals Iceplex, to take their team photo.
Thursday also marked Tom Wilson 24th birthday. The burly winger was born on March 29, 1994 in his native Toronto, Canada.
The Capitals celebrated Whip’s birthday by singing him Happy Birthday after stretching. Aw, what a cute moment! Then they gave him a special surprise.

Above the team can be seen singing to Tom. And then they smooshed his face into a birthday cake they got him.

Alex Ovechkin’s reaction is priceless.

The Capitals also posted several more photos. TJ Oshie held the baked good while Alex Ovechkin, standing behind Wilson, shoved the forward’s head into the cake.
