Late in the third period, Jakub Vrana went on a free skate, but it didn’t end well.
Taking the puck out of the defensive zone, Vrana lost his edge and fell over face first in the neutral zone like he was wearing figure skates.
“That was a toe pick,” Craig Laughlin said. “Jake The Snake hit a snow snake.”
“Vrana will be chirped all day at the bench after that skating exhibition,” Joe Beninati added.
Beninati was absolutely correct.
An embarrassed Vrana could be seen smiling as he skated back to the bench for a shift change.
He looked up at the jumbotron with exasperation. In the background, Devante Smith-Pelly, Nicklas Backstrom, and Alex Ovechkin can all be seen laughing.
