Capitals center Evgeny Kuzetsov gave the Capitals a crucial 3-2 victory over the Jets Monday night, but that wasn’t the only thing he won.
After the game, Kuzy had the quote of the night when asked for his reaction of Alex Ovechkin’s 600th career goal.
“That’s huge. When you look at those numbers, you don’t even think it’s 599, 600,” Kuznetsov said. “But then when you understand, holy f*&^ that’s a lot of goals. I can’t score 20 in a year. This is 600.”
Ovechkin, the league leader in goals (42), scored twice during the game. Kuznetsov notched the secondary assist on Ovi’s milestone goal.
“That’s a free meal for me for sure,” Kuznetsov joked.
The apple marked Kuznetsov’s 45th assist of the season, which leads the team and places Kuzy 19th league wide.
