NHL deadline day is a stressful time for players as some wait on the edge all day to see if their phone will ring.
Capitals forward TJ Oshie is not on the trade block, but that doesn’t mean his eyes didn’t fill with doom when he received an important phone call after the Caps morning skate.

The moment was captured on the Capitals’ Rinkside Update during an interview with Mike Vogel.
“It is in the back of your mind,” Oshie said a second before his phone rang.
Suddenly, Oshie’s eyes filled were filled with an existential dread.
Oshie grabbed his phone and once he saw who called, a weight was lifted off his shoulders.
“It’s the kids, it’s the kids!” Oshie exclaimed around the locker room. “That was a close one.”
You can just feel the relief.
Aside from the panic-filled moment, Oshie did explain that hockey is a business and you always have to be prepared.
“For us, it’s more so entertaining seeing what moves people make and how other teams shape up. As far as ours go, I’m pretty happy with what we’ve got here.”
The Capitals did make two trades last week to acquire defensemen Michal Kempny and Jakub Jerabek.
