“All-Star Break, my wife and I will be heading to New York,” Oshie said after practice Wednesday. “We’re going to meet with the Alzners there. It’ll be a nice little reunion seeing them. We became close friends in the two years here we played together. It’ll be good to get back.”
During their time in Washington, the Alzners and Oshies went to Disney World, the Bahamas, and the zoo together. The couples’ kids had playdates at home and at the playground. The kids even watched Caps playoff games together.
Despite how close the children have become, the family’s offspring will not be going on the trip, according to Oshie.
“The kids are going to be staying home,” Oshie continued. “Just the adults. I don’t know how easy it is to bring kids around a New York dinner. We’ll be both leaving them at home.”
The Oshies and Alzners will not be the only former Caps reuniting. Alex Ovechkin and Braden Holtby will also meet up with former teammate Mike Green at the All-Star Game. Green was a former Caps Young Gun with Ovechkin and is one of the franchise’s greatest defensemen.
