Nearly a month ago, TJ Oshie returned to the ice after missing six games due to his fourth documented concussion. Oshie was injured December 4 against the San Jose Sharks. After falling to the ice after delivering a hit, the Caps forward was butt checked in the head by San Jose Sharks forward Joe Thornton.
Oshie’s bad luck with opposing players’ derrieres continued Thursday in New Jersey.
In the waning seconds of the third period, Oshie tried to gain possession of the puck along the boards. As he reached out for the biscuit, Stefan Noesen threw a counter hit and his rear slammed into Oshie’s head.
Ouch.
Oshie would woozily get up, and remain in the game. He would even take the first shift in overtime.
But that wasn’t the only bruising play Oshie was a part of on the night.
During a third period power play, Oshie was also struck in the legs by a John Carlson slap shot. He struggled to get up for several seconds before making his way back to the bench.
With the Capitals playing again Friday night, Oshie will not have much time to recover. Here’s hoping he’s okay.
