Marcus Johansson made his first visit back to DC as his New Jersey Devils took on the Capitals Saturday night. Though he didn’t get to go home with a victory, he tallied assists on both of the Devils goals. The Capitals played the Swedish forward a tribute video during a break in action.
Johansson posted an Instagram photo on Sunday thanking the Capitals organization and their fans for everything they have given him throughout his career.

“Thanks @capitals for making my first visit back in town even more special!,” Johansson captioned his photo. “A lot of emotions and a lot of memories that will never be forgotten! And thank you to all the #capsfans for the love not only yesterday but through all these years! 🙏👍❤️”
Johansson’s photo was liked by former teammates Tom Wilson and Michael Latta, along with fellow Swede Elias Lindholm.
Many Caps fans responded to thank the Swedish forward for his time in Washington and also beg for him to come back to the team.
Johansson, who was traded in a salary dump move in the offseason, was and still is a fan favorite amongst Caps fans.
