One of the best parts of any hockey game is arguably when local youth hockey players are brought onto the ice to play a short game during intermission. Similarly to the Caps’ Mites on Ice, the Hershey Bears brought kids out to play after the first period of the team’s game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday night.
One of the kids to take the ice was Kingston Bourque, son of the Bears alternate captain Chris Bourque. Proud to see his son following in his footsteps, Bourque did not join his team in the locker room and stayed out by the ice to watch Kingston play. After the youth game, Papa Bourque skated out to greet Lil Bourque.

Kingston was selected as the equivalent of the Mite of the Night. During an interview after his game, he was asked who his favorite Hershey Bears player is. If Chris Bourque thought he had an easy in as his son’s favorite player, he was wrong.
Despite the fact that the left winger has already registered 11 goals and 21 points this season, Kingston replied that his favorite player is Riley Barber.

Although he didn’t take the cake as Kingston’s favorite player, Chris Bourque had another chance to win at least one title.
Kingston was then asked who his favorite Bourque, being instructed to choose between his father Chris, his uncle Ryan, his grandfather Ray, and himself.
With two AHLers and a Hockey Hall of Famer to choose from, Kingston had three very good options but none of them was the right one for burgeoning hockey player. Instead, he said that his favorite Bourque was himself.
Then he was asked who his favorite Bourque was between his dad, uncle (Ryan), grandfather (Ray), or himself. He said it was himself.

Gotta love that confidence. Poor Chris.
