Alex Ovechkin promised Alex Luey he would score a goal before the game. He tallied a hat trick instead.

The Alex Luey Show continued postgame.

The 13-year-old cancer survivor joined Alex Ovechkin during his interviews with the media. While speaking nationally in Canada with HNIC, Luey showed off the Hockey Night In Canada towel that Ovechkin gave him. The two also revealed that Ovechkin promised a goal for Luey before the game.

Ovi scored three instead. What a considerate human being.

“It’s incredible what he did for me,” Luey said.

“He was our best player out there,” Ovechkin said during his Hockey Night In Canada interview.

“It was a great feeling because he’s my idol,” Luey said. “He scored a hat trick for me and they won the game for me. I went on the bench for the warmups and I went to the pregame speech. It was so fun. It was so awesome.”

“What did I tell you before the game?” Ovechkin interrupted.

“You were going to score for me and win the game,” Luey responded.

“Yeah, see.”

Luey sat beside Ovechkin while he did more interviews with reporters.

After the game, Ovechkin gave Luey his gloves, stick, and helmet from the game – all signed.
