Alex Ovechkin just achieved a bit of history in the first period. After tallying his 15th goal of the season, Ovechkin tied Mike Bossy for 21st all-time on the NHL goal list.
Tom Wilson tallied the primary assist.

In the first period, Ovechkin had two odd-man breaks, but chose to pass each time. Late in the first period, with Tom Wilson playing the role of a playmaker and Nicklas Backstrom driving the net, Ovi played the role of finisher, nailing a one-timer to the back of the net.
Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy didn’t stand a chance.
Ovechkin now sits four goals behind Mark Recchi (577) to enter the NHL’s top 20 at age 32.
