Arizona’s bad season continues to get worse.
The Coyotes lost to the Winnipeg Jets Tuesday evening to put their record at 2-15-3.
According to Sportsnet Stats, the Coyotes are the first team in NHL history without a win in regulation through the first 20 games of the season.

Yikes.
The Coyotes won their first game in overtime during game 12. They finished with one standing point through the first four weeks of the season.
Arizona is now on pace for 28 standing points through 82 regular-season games. Last season’s Colorado Avalanche, who were beyond bad, finished the year with 48 points.
Over the offseason, the Coyotes hired Rick Tocchet as their new head coach, after mutually parting ways with Dave Tippett who served as the team’s bench boss for eight years. Tocchet spent the past three seasons as an assistant with the Pittsburgh Penguins and helped them win the Stanley Cup twice. But he has scuffled mightily as the leading man behind the bench.
In an article on Vice Sports, Dave Lozo spoke truth to the situation.
There are some bad coaches hiding in the NHL but they are cloaked in magic thanks partially to circumstances and a silly points system. Rick Tocchet only still has a job in Arizona because the ink hasn’t dried on his contract. You don’t go 17 games without a regulation win and survive otherwise.
They have 62 more games to try and figure things out.
