The Watergate Hotel is well-renowned for its luxury accommodations and location in the heart of DC, not to mention the scandal that made it famous. This winter, the Watergate will add a rooftop skating rink to the list of its attractions.
Top of the Skate, taking the place of Watergate’s Top of the Gate lounge for the winter, will feature a unique skate-up bar when the rink opens Thursday, November 16. Drinks on the menu include hot hard cider and alcoholic hot chocolate, as well as other seasonal drinks, according to Fritz Hahn of The Washington Post.
The rink is much smaller than a standard rink, at 70 feet by 20 feet, and is made of synthetic ice. It will offer beautiful panoramic views of downtown Washington, as well as the Potomac River. There is also a lounge seating area next to the rink for those who, like me, feel much better on solid ground rather than ice.
Tickets run from $10 to $20 and allow for up to one hour of skating time. The rink is open Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to 10pm and Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 10pm.
