Philipp Grubauer, who is one of the most talented backups in the NHL, lost his fifth consecutive start Tuesday. Grubauer is now 0-4-1 after winning 13 of 19 starts and putting up a .926 save percentage last season.
Tuesday, after the team’s 3-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, Grubauer let out his frustration to the press.

“I don’t know what to tell you,” Grubauer said. “I’m sick of f$%^ing losing.”
“They put a couple pucks on net early,” Grubauer continued. “That’s all I can do is worry about the puck and stop the puck. That’s all you can do. Give the guys a chance to win and go from situation to situation.”
Grubauer only gave up two goals against the Sabres, stopping 29 of 31 shots for a .935 SV%. But just like every game this season, Grubauer’s good play could not bail out his listless teammates.
“We all feel terrible for him,” Nicklas Backstrom added. “He’s been playing awesome the games he’s been in. We wanted to give him a win, but unfortunately that wasn’t tonight. We’ll give him one. He deserves better.”
“I can only speak for myself, but I need to be better,” Backstrom concluded.
The #Caps have scored a total of 5 goals in Grubauer's last four starts, all of which have been the backend of a back-to-back set.
