The last time we saw a dog slipping and sliding around an ice rink was all the way back in March when a golden retriever was let loose at Capital One Arena. Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait any longer to see another, because today Alex Ovechkin’s dog Blake joined him on the ice ahead of the annual Caps-dogs calendar shoot.
In videos posted to her Instagram story, Ovechkin’s wife Nastya showed Blake struggling to stay afoot as he joined Ovechkin on the ice after practice. Ovechkin left practice early after getting tangled up with a teammate on the boards. He appeared to be fine during the dog shoot and said he expected to practice Tuesday.
In the first video posted, Blake just can’t quite seem to smoothly get his feet under him as he walks around the ice and explores his owner’s territory.
Ovechkin then gives his pup a big hug and some pats before Blake is called over by Nastya. Judging by the wagging of his tail, he looks pretty dang happy.
Later, the man and his best friend got cleaned up and camera ready for the photoshoot. Both looked quite dapper, with Ovechkin in a dashing blue suit and Blake rocking a nice white bowtie.
We already know that the Ovechkins spoil their dog like crazy, so it’s not surprising the Blake is so well-dressed.
