Friday against the Detroit Red Wings, Capitals forward TJ Oshie drew a penalty, but his hockey smile suffered as a consequence.
9:51 into the first period, Red Wings forward Riley Sheahan, in a defensive posture, high-sticked Oshie as the two players skated around the net.
Sheahan only got a two-minute minor, and it appears Oshie was frustrated with officials for good reason.
At the bench, NBC Sports Washington cameras captured Oshie bleeding from the mouth. One of his bottom teeth was chipped. Oshie confirmed after the game that it was the first tooth he ever lost.
Oshie suffered a chipped tooth on the high stick. Says it was the first of his career. #Caps

Of course he didn’t miss a shift.
Here’s a closer look.
RIP, TJ’s beautiful smile.
