The Capitals won big in Jersey last night, but it cost them at least 10 games of their best defenseman, Matt Niskanen, who went onto IR this morning. For this evening’s dance in Philadelphia, the Caps will debut defenseman Madison Bowey and desperately hope to get another four points out of Nick Backstrom. It’ll be hard to win without another big contribution from the top six.
NBC Washington has your TV coverage for the 7 PM game, and Chris from the Comments has your recap.

Projected Lines
With Niskanen out, Bowey up, and no morning skate, this is a blind guess. Please do not take these lines to the bank.

Burakovsky – Backstrom – Oshie
Connolly – Eller – Wilson
Chiasson – Beagle – DSP
Orlov – Carlson
Orpik – Ness
Djoos – Bowey

Storylines
- Relive last night’s game if you, like me, had a mondo headache.
- Matt Niskanen has been placed on LTIR. This is the sequence that injured Niskanen.
- Madison Bowey has been recalled and will play tonight. He is cised.
- Ovi’s still on fire.
- Mashed potatoes.
- NBC Sports analyst John Boruk dun goofed.
- Nicky Backstrom was electric last night. Eugene Kuznetsov has been electric all season.
- We were under the impression that Andre Burakovsky is not allowed to fight. Also: his accuracy is a problem.
- Give Chance a chance!
Mumbo Sauce
I love Chef John, but throwing shade on DC cuisine is a hard miss considering we’re the adoptive home of José Andrés, who has some bomb-ass restaurants and is serving like a billion hot meals to the good people of Puerto Rico, which should be a state.
Recipe needs more cayenne imo.
