#FreeWilly: TJ Oshie is very excited that Tom Wilson’s suspension is over

Burly Capitals forward Tom Wilson was suspended twice during the preseason for unnecessary and dangerous hits, but he returns from his latest four-game ban Friday night against the New Jersey Devils.

And while all of us are excited to see Wilson back in the lineup, there’s one person in particular who’s geeking out more than the rest: TJ Oshie.

Thursday afternoon, Oshie, who gets butt-slashed by Wilson during warmups every game, tweeted a photoshop of the enforcer inserted into a Free Willy movie poster.

I’m not sure if Oshie used someone else’s photoshop, made the photoshop himself, or was given it from the team, but this is tremendous.

The voice of the Capitals, radio play-by-play man John Walton caught up with Wilson in the locker room after practice, and Wilson had some smart things to say.

“I think for a player like me who’s sitting for four games and then it’s like I want to get right back out there and fly around. You know?” Wilson said. “I’m going to have to take that in account. That happened a little bit in St. Louis. You know you get sat for two games and almost get released back into the lineup and you’re like ‘Okay, I’ve got to create energy and fly around.’ You miss playing hockey. I’ve got to take that into account. I’ve got to take that excitement and channel it and make sure that it’s going towards positive things. I’m making make sure my decision making and my checks are clean. You know what? There are a lot of things you think about when you’re sitting on the sidelines. You don’t want to put yourself in that situation again.”

“Enough people call you a goon, you want to go out there and prove to them that you can score some goals,” Wilson concluded.
