When hockey sticks attack: KHL player nearly injures himself leaving penalty box

If you needed a laugh today, I have a video that you may enjoy.

During KHL action on Wednesday, Barys Astana forward Talgat Zhailauov had an embarrassing moment after serving a two-minute minor for hooking.

As Zhailauov exited the penalty box, he turned his stick sideways and basically reverse clotheslined himself to the ice.

The KHL posted a GIF on Twitter. It went viral.

This isn’t the first time a stick has struck back against its owner.

Mitchell Skiba of the Alpena Flyers nearly knocked himself unconscious going off the ice after being ejected from a junior hockey game.

So just remember, kids. No matter how eager you are to get back onto the ice or go drink juice boxes in the lockerroom, always remember to hold your stick at a good angle or you might be visiting the emergency room later.
