Thursday the Capitals open the 2017-18 season against the Ottawa Senators and one player is especially excited.
Andre Burakovsky, inspired by the team’s first road trip of the season, got out his phone and start filming his teammates as they boarded the team’s plane.
While the resulting footage is awkward, it’s also undeniably charming and funny too.
First, Dre films himself asking a question to his former roommate Tom Wilson.
“First roadtrip for the boys,” Burakovsky says. “Tom, you excited?
The suspended enforcer, who is carrying four Starbuck’s drinks, looks back at Burakovsky. He sassily sips his drink.
“WOOOOOOOO!” Burakovsky enthusiastically yells.
Next, fellow Swede Christian Djoos gets some air time.
As Djoos walks down the aisle and ambles into his seat beside Burkie, the Burracuda, in his highest pitch voice, says Yousssssss to get the defenseman’s attention.
Djoos makes a weird head swivel.
“Hullo” Djoos says, greeting his friend.
The video ends.
Finally, Andre films Mr. No Nonsense, Nicklas Backstrom.
Backstrom stares skeptically at the camera, thinking that maybe if he forces a smile, Burakovsky will leave him alone.
“Hello, Nicky,” Andre says.
“Hello,” Backstrom responds in his most bashful voice.
A hyper Burakovsky then begins shaking his camera up and down.
