The NHL regular season officially begins tonight and fans now have a new way to share their love of their favorite team.
Starting today, each of the 31 teams will have an official hashtag on Twitter that will trigger a team-related emoji. If you’d like to rep the Capitals, just add the hashtag “#ALLCAPS” to your tweet and the the team’s alternate logo, the Weagle, will appear.
Led by Christopher Doyle, Head of Sports at Twitter, the hashtags are an easy way to tweet about the NHL this season.

NEW YORK / TORONTO – To commemorate tonight’s start of the 2017-18 NHL season, each of the 31 NHL teams will have an official hashtag-triggered emoji, the National Hockey League (NHL) and Twitter announced today. While hockey fans have been sharing their excitement for the new season via the official #NHLFaceOff hashtag, starting today at Noon ET and continuing throughout the entire NHL season, fans can add a new level of engagement with their favorite teams, players and fellow hockey fans on Twitter with unique team logo emojis.
